Smoke was visible from a highway south of Okotoks after a fire broke out at the Foothills Regional Landfill on Aug. 22.
The fire was reported at approximately 3:15 p.m. within the landfill on Highway 783.
Initially thought to be a large fire, crews found a small blaze when they arrived.
The fire appeared to be on the landfill's southern boundary, and landfill operations didn't appear to be impacted.
Okotoks Fire & Rescue responded along with crews from the Foothills Fire Department.
Crews are still on scene working to put out the fire.
