SUNDRE — An incumbent, one-term councillor who aspires to build on the foundation he established over the past four years says he still has plenty to offer.
“I feel like I have more to give back to the community,” Rob Wolfe said when asked why he decided to run again.
“I’ve enjoyed what I’ve been doing. This past council has done a lot for this community, with the assistance of administration."
But there still remains more to give back and to accomplish, he reiterated.
“There’s more things to do, there’s more work to be done,” he said.
Asked what he considers to be among the municipality’s top issues, he identified tourism first.
“Obviously, (we need) to promote more tourism. We purchased that land on the east side behind Fountain Tire,” he said, referring to the parcel the municipality obtained with plans to develop into a four-season campground and passive outdoor recreational area that would also offer residents new amenities to enjoy.
“We want that to be developed and promote year-round tourism, not just seasonal as we have now,” he said.
Additionally, council must work diligently alongside administration in the ongoing effort to continue maintaining and upgrading infrastructure, both above and underground, he said.
Advocating for affordable housing and discussing ways to entice developers to consider Sundre for new projects is another top-concern for the first-term councillor.
“The rental situation right now in Sundre is pretty much zero,” he said.
“It would be nice to attract some developers” to build new homes and rental properties, he added.
“Because we definitely need it," he said.
With election day less than two weeks away, Wolfe expressed gratitude to those who have supported him and hopes he can count on their votes again.
“I’m looking forward to this election. It’s going to be interesting," he said.
