The brain is the control centre of the body and keeping it engaged and active each day with word games can be beneficial for adults. For example, Wordle presents a new 5-letter word to guess with up to six guesses. The game’s dynamics make it unique because the player gets only a single word puzzle in 24 hours to prevent unproductivity. The user can share the results on social media, which works as a conversation starter.

Here are some other brain games that help boost your cognitive abilities.

Riddles

Experts suggest that combining physical exercise of any kind and brain exercises can improve brain neuroplasticity. It’s essential to challenge the brain every day. Word and math riddles available online can contribute to developing your memory, attention, and solution-oriented thinking skills. It sharpens vocabulary and general knowledge too!

Chess

Chess is one of the most famous intelligence games out there that is great for numerous things. Playing chess hones rapid decision making, planning, strategic thinking, concentration, and attention. It is an effective brain teaser for both adults and children. Thanks to technology, you can even play chess online with and without friends.

Mobile Games

Certain brain games and apps were tested in rigorous randomized trials to support their role in improving brain speed, concentration, memory, and attention. They can have a positive or a negative effect on humans, depending upon their usage. Playing video games in a controlled manner can show beneficial results often overlooked by adults. For example, a car racing or action game improves visual abilities and hand-eye coordination skills. Some popular brain-sharpening mobile games are Gardenscapes, Geometry Dash, Threes!, 2048, Paperama, and Two Dots.

Puzzles

Puzzles are a fun activity to play by yourself or with friends and family. Puzzles can empower visual recognition skills, focus, attention, and more. Other cognitive games such as sudoku and word-search are suggested for brain training.

Hello Wordl

Hello Wordl is a spin-off of Wordle with the same rules and number of guesses. The user gets six tries to guess the hidden word, but instead of one word per day, they can play as many times as they want. In addition, you can choose from words ranging from four letters to 11.

Semantle

Similar to Wordle, Semantle is an advanced version of a word guessing game. The target word will not necessarily contain five letters, and there will be no hints for correctly-guessed letters. Instead, the game will provide one clue about how close your guess is to the target word. In fact, it gets frustrating and even has a give up button! This is an excellent test for your word knowledge.

Quordle

Meant to quadruple the fun, Quordle will challenge the user to guess four words simultaneously. Regular players tend to find it difficult, so the game lets you play a practice version with unlimited guesses to test the waters. Players will have to guess four words with nine guesses only. There is a new puzzle each day.

Brain Games are the new trend

Scientists have researched a lot on brain trauma such as stroke and how the brain recovers through stimulation. Cognitive stimulation plays a key role for preserving brain function as we age. We recommend you practice mindfulness and meditation on a daily basis for overall brain health, and don’t forget to get a good amount of quality sleep as sleep disturbances lead to neurodegeneration.

Take out some time in your routine to play around with these brain exercise games to keep your mind active.
