CALGARY — A 15-year-old has been arrested by police for terrorism-related offences.

Police say the teen, who can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been released with conditions, pending the outcome of a Terrorism Peace Bond application, and is scheduled to be back in court on Nov. 6.

RCMP say in a statement that the 15-year-old is the third Calgarian to be charged in an ongoing national security investigation.

Twenty-year-old Zakarya Rida Hussein was charged in June with two counts of facilitating terrorist activity and two counts of participating in or contributing to an activity of a terrorist group.

Court documents show Hussein is accused of posting a TikTok video in May that contributed to or facilitated terrorist activity for al-Qaida and the Islamic State group.

Another Calgary youth, who also cannot be named, was also arrested in June as part of the same investigation.

The RCMP says that it is committed to working with both domestic and foreign agencies to keep Canadians safe and secure and protect Canadian interests at home and abroad.
