CALGARY — The cases of two brothers who are facing charges after a fatal shooting in Calgary were in court as police identified the man who was killed.
Police responded to a call Monday afternoon about a shooting in the parking lot of a northeast Calgary shopping mall and found a man dead and two others injured.
The man who died has been identified by police as 23-year-old Rami Hajj Ali.
A 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.
He briefly appeared in court today and is scheduled to be back on Nov. 30.
His 18-year-old brother has been charged with accessory to murder after the fact.
His case was put over until Nov. 23 when a date is expected to be set for a bail hearing.
Police have said investigators believe the attack was targeted and connected to an ongoing organized crime conflict in Calgary.
