CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed American defensive lineman Julian Howsare, the CFL club announced Friday.
The five-year veteran was slated to become a free agent next month.
Hosware started all 18 regular-season games and the Western Division semifinal at defensive end in 2023 and finished his first season in Calgary second on the team with six sacks.
He had 48 defensive tackles including three tackles for a loss, one special-teams stop and two forced fumbles.
Howsare, from Altoona, Penn., signed with Calgary on Feb. 14, 2023, after four seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
In 80 career regular-season games, Howsare has 160 tackles including 13 tackles for loss, 27 sacks, three forced fumbles, three knock-downs, two interceptions and six special-teams tackles.
ROUGHRIDERS RE-SIGN DEFENSIVE LINEMAN DABIRE
REGINA — The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Canadian defensive lineman Charbel Dabire to a one-year contract extension.
The 27-year-old set career highs with 13 defensive tackles and two sacks in 18 games with the Roughriders in 2023.
The six-foot-one, 290-pound Dabire was selected by the Roughriders in the fifth round, 44th overall, of the 2019 CFL draft and has 37 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles and six sacks over 55 career regular season games.
