Canadian Pacific Rail train derails near southern Alberta village: RCMP

BARONS, Alta. — Mounties are on the scene of a train derailment in southern Alberta.

RCMP say the Canadian Pacific Rail train had an engine derail at 9:30 a.m. and some empty fuel cars tipped over near Barons, Alta., north of Lethbridge.

No injuries have been reported.

RCMP say diesel fuel is leaking from a fuel entry point because of the angle of the derailed engine car.

Fire crews, CP Rail and hazardous materials response teams from Calgary are on scene.

Traffic is being rerouted in the area.
