EDSON, Alta. — Residents from parts of central Alberta are to be able to return home after the province lifted a wildfire evacuation order.

The order for the town of Edson and parts of Yellowhead County is to lift at 6 p.m. today.

The town says a four-hour evacuation alert will be put in place as there is no longer an immediate fire risk, but residents should be ready if conditions change.

It says basic emergency medical services will be available and the emergency department is working on reopening with limited service.

Grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations and other essential services are working to open as soon as possible.

Residents of Edson were forced to evacuate due to wildfire on June 9.
