CANMORE, Alta. — A woman in her 40s has been found dead in the Rockies after being separated from her hiking group.
Kananaskis Country's public safety section says they were called to Mount Fable east of Canmore, Alta., around 8:30 p.m. Sunday for reports of a missing hiker.
They were told the woman, who is reportedly from Calgary, had left her group to explore a cave and hadn't been seen since 1 p.m.
Rescue helicopters were deployed and the hiker's body was spotted from the air on the southeast ridge of the mountain.
Officials with Kananaskis public safety say it appears she had a major fall.
