CALGARY — Police have charged a man with arson for a residential explosion in Calgary.

Six people were sent to hospital Saturday night, after the blast in the northeast part of the city destroyed several townhomes.

Fire officials said one of the victims was in life-threatening condition, while another was listed as serious.

Investigators say they believe a fire was intentionally set in a using an accelerant, which then caused the explosion.

Gavin Peter Robinson, who is 40, has also been charged with disregard for human life, and police say more charges are likely.

Robinson is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
