ACHESON, Alberta (AP) _ North American Construction Group Ltd. (NOA) on Wednesday reported second-quarter profit of $9.6 million.
On a per-share basis, the Acheson, Alberta-based company said it had profit of 30 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 29 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 13 cents per share.
The heavy construction and mining services company posted revenue of $51.1 million in the period.
North American Construction shares have fallen 51% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $5.97, a fall of 41% in the last 12 months.
