EDMONTON — Police have made an arrest after a woman was killed in a hit-and-run during a police chase near Edmonton.
RCMP say they arrested a suspect Tuesday night in the Wainwright area.
The chase began after RCMP in Beaumont, just south of Edmonton, tried to arrest a man in a parked truck on the weekend.
Officers deployed a spike belt, which disabled several civilian vehicles as well as the truck.
Police say the woman got out of her vehicle to check on damage from the spike belt and was hit by the truck.
She has been identified as 45-year-old Kassandra Gartner, who was executive director of the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank.
