New York Rangers left-wing Artemi Panarin, San Jose defenceman Erik Karlsson and Arizona right-wing Clayton Keller have been named the NHL’s three stars of the week.
Panarin led the NHL with nine points (four goals, five assists) in four games as the Rangers posted a perfect week and increased their overall winning streak to five games.
He capped the week by scoring a career-high four goals, including a natural hat trick that featured the game-winner, and matching a personal best with five points in a 6-2 victory over Carolina on Saturday.
The 31-year-old Panarin leads the Rangers with 59 points (16 goals, 43 assists) through 53 total games this season.
Karlsson led defencemen with seven points (two goals, five assists) in three games.
He opened the week with a goal and two assists in a 4-3 win over Tampa Bay on Tuesday. He then posted his 70th point of the season in his 53rd game with an assist in a 4-1 loss to Florida on Thursday.
It was the fastest a defenceman has reached 70 points since Paul Coffey with Pittsburgh in 1988-89 (45 games).
Karlsson ended the week with another one-goal, two-assist performance in a 4-1 win over Washington on Sunday.
Keller posted three goals and four assists over three games last week.
He closed the week with back-to-back three-point performances. He had a goal and two assists in a 4-3 overtime loss to Chicago on Friday and two goals and an assist in a 6-5 overtime loss to St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
The 24-year-old Keller tops Arizona in goals (21), assists (27) and points (48) through 53 games this season
