HALIFAX — A child is in hospital with serious injures after being struck by a van while crossing the street in Halifax. Police were called to the intersection of Gottingen and Uniacke streets shortly before 7 p.m.

HALIFAX — A child is in hospital with serious injures after being struck by a van while crossing the street in Halifax.

Police were called to the intersection of Gottingen and Uniacke streets shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.

Authorities say a girl was on the Gottingen Street crosswalk when she was struck by a van.

Police say the child was rushed to hospital in serious condition, while the 35-year-old female driver was not injured.

Members of the Patrol, Accident Investigation Section and Forensic Identification Section have taken control of the case, and it is unknown if charges are pending.

Anyone with information on the collision is asked to contact police.
