EGLINGTON, P.E.I. — Prince Edward Island RCMP say they've arrested a man who allegedly abducted a nine-year-old girl at gunpoint.

They say officers began their investigation early today following a 911 call about an altercation at a home in Eglington, P.E.I.

By the time police reached the house, the suspect had left with the girl.

But they say they soon found him at a home in Souris, P.E.I., and the child was unharmed.

Police say no one was injured and the man was taken into custody.

An Amber Alert was issued at around 1:30 a.m. and was cancelled a few hours later when the girl was found.
