ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The international airport in St. John's, N.L., reopened Thursday morning after a suspicious package briefly forced its closure.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said it determined there was no threat to public safety from the package.
The airport's account on X, formally known as Twitter, announced the closure at about 6:15 a.m. local time.
The RNC said its officers were on site and using a specialized unit to secure the area.
The airport reported that operations resumed at 7 a.m.
Airport officials said some flights were affected and urged passengers to contact their airline directly for information.
