Top baby names 2023: Henry most popular in N.S., Liam and Olivia in N.B.

HALIFAX — Nova Scotia and New Brunswick have released the provinces’ top baby names for 2023, and Henry, Theodore, Olivia and Liam are at the top of the lists. 

The annual report from Nova Scotia’s Registry of Vital Statistics says that among the 5,922 registered births this year, 35 babies were named Henry.  

The next most popular baby names in Nova Scotia were Theodore, with 34 babies given that name, and Oliver, with 31 babies.

In New Brunswick, there was a tie for the top baby name this year between Liam and Olivia. 

The next most common names were Theodore, Emma and Noah, though New Brunswick did not offer a breakdown of the number of babies with each name.

Other names that made the top of both provinces’ lists include Benjamin, William, Charlotte, Violet and James.
