HALIFAX — Two men are facing firearms-related charges after a shooting Friday that prompted the Nova Scotia RCMP to issue an emergency alert.
The RCMP in Colchester County say just after midnight, they received a complaint a vehicle travelling on Highway 2 in Central Onslow had been shot at with what were believed to be paintballs.
The victim, who was not injured, told police they had slowed down to get a closer look at a vehicle moving slowly in the opposite direction when a shot rang out.
When it was later determined the victim’s vehicle had been hit by a bullet, the RCMP's emergency response team was called in and the alert was issued for Colchester and Cumberland counties and the Municipality of East Hants.
The alert said Mounties were looking for an armed suspect, but RCMP soon learned two men were believed to be involved.
One man was arrested on Friday at noon, and the second was apprehended about 20 minutes later.
The first suspect has been charged with discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life, careless use of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
The second man has been charged careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and fleeing police.
