Two teenage boys charged in fatal stabbing: Fredericton police

Fredericton police say two 17-year-old boys have been charged in connection with a stabbing that killed a 71-year-old man. Police responded to a call of an ongoing fight taking place Friday on the 500 block of Union Street.

Fredericton police say two 17-year-old boys have been charged in connection with a stabbing that killed a 71-year-old man.

Police responded to a call of an ongoing fight taking place Friday on the 500 block of Union Street.

Officers say they found a victim who had been critically injured from a stabbing. The man was taken to hospital but later died due to his injuries.

Three suspects were arrested, including two 17-year-old youths, who are facing second-degree murder and manslaughter charges.

A 15-year-old boy was also arrested but has since been released.

Police say witness statements and video evidence helped with the investigation, which remains active.
