Flooded court forces Arkansas-Little Rock to relocate games

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas-Little Rock's men's and women's basketball doubleheader against Tennessee-Martin on Thursday was moved to another arena after freezing temperatures caused a water coil to rupture, flooding the court at the Jack Stephens Center.

Thursday's Ohio Valley Conference openers will now be held at Simmons Bank Arena in nearby North Little Rock, the school said in a statement.

Temperatures dipped well below freezing last week in Arkansas, which, like many other Southern states, saw leaks and widespread broken pipes in homes and businesses because of the unusually cold weather.

On Wednesday, crews worked to rip up the hardwood floor, though it wasn't clear when the court would be usable again.

Men's coach Darrell Walker tweeted a photo Wednesday of the wreckage and wrote: “What are you going to do?”
