Airdrie Rural RCMP investigating slaughtered cows found in rural area

Two cows were found slaughtered and butchered April 4 in a rural area in central Alberta. RCMP say they don't know who owns the cows and are looking for information from the public.

Airdrie Rural RCMP are investigating the unlawful slaughter of two cows in Swalwell.

Airdrie Rural RCMP are investigating the dumping of two cows who were slaughtered, skinned, and had their meat taken earlier this week.

The dump site for the cows was directly behind the cemetery in the hamlet of Swalwell, in Kneehill County. The animals' remains were discovered on April 4.

"It is believed they were dumped sometime between March 31 and April 4," a press release from Airdrie RCMP stated.

According to RCMP, the cows were valued at approximately $5,000. It is unknown who owns the cows.
