The Environmental Appeals Board is accepting requests from anyone who wants to be heard during an upcoming appeal hearing for the Rimrock biodigester.
Alberta Environment and Protected Areas issued approval to Rimrock Renewables for the Foothills County waste management facility, or biodigester, last December.
The proposed facility, west of High River, would use feedlot and other types of waste to make renewable natural gas.
The hearing is scheduled for Nov. 26 to 28 and will be by video conference, the EAB said.
The appeals board hearing will hear submissions related to the approval and must receive requests to take part by Oct. 18.
Requests need to include the name and address of the person making the request and information about their interest in the appeal, among other details that will be part of the public record.
The hearing will be held after a confidential mediation meeting between Rimrock Renewables and area residents, held several months after the approval, failed to reach an agreement.
The EAB said the hearing will not be open for public viewing, but audio recordings can be requested.
Rimrock hoped the facility would be in operation early this year.
