Rocky View County confirmed yesterday that one of their employees, Colin Hough, was killed in a shooting that occurred around noon yesterday at Range Road 282 and Township Road 250, west of Calgary.

A GoFundMe has been set up for Hough's family and has raised over $7,000 of its $10,000 goal.

Hough is described as a "beloved father, husband, son, colleague and friend who never hesitated to help anyone," who left behind a wife and two children.

Strathmore RCMP responded to the shooting call to discover two people shot, one with a superficial wound, and Hough, was fatally wounded. According to RCMP suspects fled the scene in a stolen County work truck. The suspects dumped the truck at Range Road 260 and Township Road 252, located in Wheatland County, and fled the scene.

“This tragic and senseless act has deeply affected us all," wrote County acting Chief Administrative Officer Byron Riemann in a statement on the County's website. "Colin was a valued member of our team, and we extend our deepest condolences to Colin's family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.”

“Our community is shocked and heartbroken by this devastating event," said RVC Reeve Crystal Kissel. "We will support Colin's family and colleagues in any way we can as we stand together in grieving this loss.”

FortisAlberta confirmed that one of its employees was the other shooting victim. According to Fortis, their employee was treated for their injury and was released from the hospital yesterday evening.

RCMP said they are still searching for suspects and the investigation into the shooting is currently being investigated. Police warn that the at-large suspects are armed and dangerous.

The RCMP stated that no additional information is available at this time.
