WESTLOCK — A 36-year old man from Ontario is dead following a skydiving accident at the Westlock Municipal Airport.

EMS, RCMP and Westlock County firefighters responded to the airport at 1:50 p.m. Aug. 28 and found the deceased man.

“I can confirm that we’re investigating a fatality at the airport,” said Westlock RCMP Detachment Staff Sgt. Al Baird over the phone, confirming what an officer told TC Staff on scene.

Neither could offer any more details, but a press release later in the evening confirmed that the man was not a resident of Westlock and area.

Police have since notified Transportation Safety Board and the provincial Occupational Health Services. They say they don't believe foul play or criminal activity were involved in the man's death, and they won't be releasing any more information.
