A tent has collapsed at the Westlock Meditation Centre and dozens of emergency service vehicles are responding

WESTLOCK – One person has died and several more injured after a large tent structure collapse at Westlock Meditation Center (Tu Vien Tay Thien) near Busby on Wednesday.

Westlock RCMP had received a report of the structure collapse around 5:27 p.m. They say it was caused by severe weather. 

Occupational Health and Safety have been advised and have investigators on site. The RCMP is currently investigating the circumstances of this incident.

Dozens of emergency vehicles are responding to a tent collapse in northern Alberta

Weslock RCMP were joined by officers from several other nearby detachments, EMS, and fire crews in assisting multiple injured people who were near or inside a large tent structure when it collapsed. Several injured people were taken by EMS to area hospitals. 

The Alberta RCMP wish to express their heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, and those injured during this incident.
