After being the recent victim of a vandalism attack last month, the iconic Men of Vision statue sitting atop the hill in the Cochrane Historic Ranche is now receiving repairs.
The incident was reported to the Cochrane RCMP on May 4, and soon after it was fenced off for assessment and repairs.
In correspondence from the Town, the damage includes vandalism at the base of the statue, with cuts made into the legs of the horse. The damage is approximately between $25,000 and $30,000, but the exact cost is still being determined.
“The repair costs for the statue will be covered through insurance,” the town outlined.
Currently, the statue is being repaired by Bronzart Casting Ltd.
Security measures for preventing an incident like this from happening again are being looked into, but the town says no decisions have been made at this time.
As per the current investigation by the Cochrane Crime Reduction Unit, the incident is still under investigation with no updates at this time.
