According to a statement released on its website, a grassfire near the popular Calaway Park, which is located in Rocky View County just west of Calgary, forced the closure of the park on Sunday.
"At approximately 2:42pm, we become aware of a grass fire south of Calaway Park," the statement reads. "We then enacted our Emergency Response Plan in which we moved forward with an accelerated close."
The park then went on to thank the Springbank Fire Department and the Cochrane RCMP for their assistance with the fire.
"We understand that this impacted the guests visiting us today and we thank you for your patience and understanding," Calway Park states. "If you did not speak with a member of our team, please email us at [email protected]."
Further stating, "The safety of our guests and team members is our first priority."
Calaway Park states it will be open on its next scheduled operating day on June 8 from 10am to 7pm.
