Christopher STEVENSON, 37 of Calgary has been missing since August 2023. Calgary Police Services laid charges on Aug. 22., 2024.

Following an extensive investigation into the disappearance of Christopher Stevenson, who was last seen in Aug. 2023, investigators have now laid charges in relation to his death.

The year-long investigation included a search of a residence in downtown Calgary and a rural property located on Range Road 293, near Balzac, Rocky View County.

The evidence collected led investigators to believe Christopher was murdered in Aug. 2023.

As a result, CPS has charged Shaun Alexander FOLK, 47, of Calgary, with second-degree murder.

He will next appear in court on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024.

“This has been an extremely complex investigation where several resources were used from across our Service, as well as several resources from the RCMP,” says Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.

“We now believe we have a good understanding of the events leading up to Christopher’s death and the days following his murder. Our investigators are continuing to move this investigation forward and are determined to hold those involved accountable.”

Investigators took an additional man into custody in relation to the death of Christopher Stevenson.

According to a CPS press release, Calgary man Ali Samir El-Sayed, 45, is charged with accessory after the fact for murder.

He will next appear in court on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024.

“Our officers remain dedicated to this investigation and believe there are others with information regarding the murder of Christopher,” CPS stated in the release.

“We anticipate further charges will be laid in relation to this homicide in the coming days or weeks.”

Calgary police searched a rural property located on Range Road 293 in Rocky View County near Balzac in relation to the case of Christopher Stevenson in September of 2023.

Investigators believed Christopher may have been a victim of foul play, and were led to the property in search of evidence related to his disappearance.

Investigators began searching the property on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 and the search was expected to continue into the Sept. 23 weekend.

On Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, officers executed a search warrant in the 600 block of Sixth Avenue S.E. in Calgary, and two people were taken into custody for questioning in relation to Christopher’s disappearance. Both individuals remained in custody due to unrelated matters as of press time.

Anyone with information on Christopher’s whereabouts, or who may have interacted with him prior to his disappearance, is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234.
