A Canadian superstar decided to Come On Over to Diamond Valley for lunch.
Famed country singer Shania Twain paid a visit to the Chuckwagon Café on Monday, June 1, ahead of upcoming shows in Europe and Las Vegas.
"She is really cool, you know? She's carrying the weight of Canada and she's just a tiny little person," said server Susan Green, who added that Twain ordered a vegetarian eggs Benedict and banana cream pie.
It had already been an eventful day, Green said, with guests from Ontario, Germany, France and Switzerland stopping by, so she almost didn't recognize Twain.
"Not every famous person wants to be famous all the time," she said, having only recognized Twain after she'd finished her meal.
When Green realized she was talking to the best-selling female country artist of all time, she played it cool and brought the Chuckwagon crew over to meet her quickly.
"Our chef had gone to her concert in the summertime, and that was the first concert he'd ever been to in his life," said Green. "So I mean, we were all starstruck and grateful and thankful and I can tell the rest of the Foothills and south of Calgary that if you get the chance to meet her, she's really just lovely."
Aside from taking a photo, the team didn't want to make a big deal out of it.
"They weren't out here to be Shania Twain, they were just out here for a great meal and a beautiful day with their companions," said Green.
The You're Still The One singer isn't the first celebrity Green's encountered at the Chuckwagon Café.
"I've served Glenn Close at that table, Shania Twain and Robin Wright, all at that one table, table three. It's a lucky table," she said.
Green is happy to see that celebrities are fans of Foothills County and the Chuckwagon Café, which had previously been featured on the Food Network show You Gotta Eat Here!
"We talked more about food and then we went right into ranching and the history of the Cowboy Trail and the history of the Chuckwagon, because I didn't realize I was dealing with a star."
Twain, who wrapped up her Queen of Me tour last November, has a busy schedule this year as she's headed to Ireland later this month for a series of festivals and concerts throughout Europe, before kicking off a Las Vegas residency in August.
