Cochrane's Sharon Marie White is about to release her new single “I’ll bring the wine”

Cochrane crooner Sharon Marie White is about to release her new single “I’ll bring the wine,” which tells the story of a couple who can’t seem to completely quit each other, and how hard it can be to completely let go of someone.

‘Let’s not look back tonight, I’ll bring the wine’ is one of the recurring lyrics of the traditional country song she co-wrote with Dan Washburn from Ontario.

When released sometime in the first week of March, White’s new track will be available on Amazon, Spotify, Apple Music, and on other music streaming platforms.

White, 58, said the inspiration for the song came from what she’s seen happen repeatedly in real life.

“As an observer of people, as a songwriter, I’ve noticed there are couples that break up, but they still somehow come back together again,” she said. “There’s this magnetism, for good or for bad, because they’re familiar with each other.”

She pointed to a line from the song that perhaps explains a part of the reason why that happens.

“It says, ‘Cause it’s better than being alone,’ so, they can reminisce about the good times, because in any relationship there’s good and bad,” she said.

White performed a local concert at Grand Avenue Village earlier this winter and did a house show in Cochrane recently. She’s eager to do more live performances in Cochrane, as she misses the audience interaction.

She records with musicians from Nashville. On this new release, she collaborated with a fiddle player.

“I send my songs, and they do their magic,” she said.

White grew up in the small town of Napinka, Man. (pop. 132), and moved to Cochrane 20 years ago with her husband Brad, whom she works with in their oil and gas consulting business.

Brad does most of what she calls the “tech stuff” but she’s trying to learn how to do more in their home recording studio in GlenEagles.

At the age of 14, White learned how to play the guitar and from that point on, she spent most weekends playing gigs all over southern Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Having reignited her music career in the last few years following a lengthy hiatus after moving to Cochrane, White said she’s now focused on honing her multi-genre songwriting skills in country, folk and blues.

The other way her music is exposed to listeners is through online radio, where she’s had DJs play her songs in Ireland, Scotland, the U.K., and the U.S. as well as in Canada.
