Divers join search for person presumed drowned on Northern Alberta lake

Search continues into second day for person reported missing on Moose Lake Aug. 4.

RCMP have scheduled a dive team to assist in the recovery of an individual suspected of drowning in Moose Lake over the August long weekend.

BONNYVILLE - On Aug. 4, just after 11:58 a.m., Bonnyville RCMP received a call about a possible drowning in Moose Lake. 

On Aug. 5, RCMP provided an update on their search for a missing person on Moose Lake, reporting that no one has been yet found, but a dive team had been scheduled to aid in the recovery.

On Monday, Cpl. Troy Savinkoff, Public Information Officer with Alberta RCMP, said, "Today's activity that was planned was a dive team, that was scheduled to arrive on scene today and work with police in trying to locate this individual that we believe has drowned. Whenever you're calling the dive team, you suspect that they're in the water. We also have other resources in place searching the shores."

Savinkoff added, the Bonnyville RCMP detachment, Cold Lake RCMP detachment, along with Search and Rescue units from Bonnyville, St. Paul, and Vegreville, are all assisting in the search.
