An Edmonton man has been found guilty in a home invasion robbery that took place outside of Okotoks in 2019.
Armin Babic was convicted on six charges on April 26, including robbery with a firearm and unlawful confinement, following a trial at Court of King’s Bench in Calgary.
The robbery occurred at a home in DeWinton, south of Calgary, in November 2019.
Items stolen include a .357 calibre Desert Eagle handgun, jewellery and over $23,000 in US currency, court documents say.
During the robbery, it was alleged that Babic unlawfully confined two people inside the home and fired one round from a firearm.
Babic was arrested the day of the robbery, after Okotoks RCMP responded to a 911 call made by the homeowner.
Police stopped the suspect's vehicle a short time later, finding items inside that were linked to the crime.
The trial began March 6, but was adjourned until April.
Following the conviction, Babic was placed in custody, and sentencing will take place at a later date.
