In a Southern Alberta town people posing as fire fighters trying to sell fire prevention equipment

A fire department, south of Calgary is warning that individuals could be going door-to-door and using high-pressure sales tactics to sell uncertified fire prevention materials.

Scammers posing as firefighters may be going door-to-door in Diamond Valley. 

In a warning to residents on Oct. 24, Diamond Valley Fire Rescue (DVFR) said there may be people representing themselves as members of the fire department. 

The individuals use high-pressure sales tactics to try to sell uncertified fire prevention materials and may contact people through Facebook. 

DVFR said that the department, or its members, do not sell fire prevention material and will always wear a uniform and have photo identification cards when on fire department business. 

Any suspicious interactions that may be a scam can be reported to the RCMP, DVFR said.
