École Leduc Estates School in Leduc, Alta., has issued a warning that some students may have been exposed to COVID-19.

On March 8, Principal Carla Fisher wrote in a letter to parents that two students had been in contact with someone who recently tested positive for COVID-19. The students and family will be self-isolating.

"As all students circulate through the school and interact with each other freely, there is a possibility that your child may have come in contact with these children," Fisher wrote.

Black Gold School Division will be turning off its water fountains and disinfecting all touch surfaces daily at the school. Fisher advised parents to have their children fill and bring their own water bottle from home and ask them not to share with their classmates. The school will have some bottled water available for students who forget to bring their own.

The school recommends families to watch for flu-like symptoms, including fever, cough or shortness of breath, and to call Health Link 811 if any symptoms start.

The school also reiterates recommendations to wash hands with soap and water often, avoid touching your face with unwashed hands, cough or sneeze into a tissue and wash your hands immediately after, stay home if sick and to clean any surfaces shared by everyone in a home.
