Man charged in two Airdrie shooting incidents this summer

A 22-year-old Airdrie resident has been charged in relation to two separate shooting incidents.

A 22-year-old Airdrie resident has been charged in relation to two separate shooting incidents which happened in the Airdrie neigbhourhoods of Luxstone and Windsong earlier this summer.

According to police, on June 5, 2024 two vehicles were identified in a shooting in the Windsong neighbourhood. On July 29, 2024 gunshots were fired at residences in the Luxstone neighbourhood.

After a six-month investigation, Airdrie RCMP General Investigation Section on Dec. 12 charged Micah Pedersen with both shooting incidents.

Charges include:

  • Discharge a Firearm while being Reckless x2;
  • Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose x2;
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 2;
  • Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition;
  • Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle;
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order x 4.

 

Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing,  the accused was remanded in custody and will be appearing in the Alberta Court of Justice in Cochrane via CCTV on Dec. 17, 2024.
