A 71-year-old who went missing in the Diamond Valley area on Jan. 4 has been located and airlifted to hospital.
Allan Bowman was located by a member of the public at about 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 6, said Diamond Valley Fire Rescue Chief TJ Moore.
He was found with his truck in a ravine area near 498 Avenue West, suffering from exposure and in serious condition, and he was airlifted to hospital by STARS air ambulance, Moore said.
In addition to searches conducted by RCMP and a Calgary Police Service helicopter, a number of residents took part in the search for Bowman, Moore said.
Moore said Bowman was located in a brushy ravine that made it difficult for air or ground searchers to spot.
He had been missing since late on Jan. 4, when RCMP said officers from the Turner Valley detachment were called, along with paramedics, at about 11:20 p.m. to help an elderly man who had fallen out of his truck.
Officers arrived at the area near, Highway 22 and 466 Avenue West, and began to search the area but were unable to locate the man.
Extensive searches were conducted in the area, including grid road searches with assistance from a Calgary Police Service helicopter and fire department drone operators.
