Calgary police confirm they have located the remains of Chelsea Davidenas.

According the Calgary Police Service (CPS), over the past several days, CPS officers have been searching rural areas southeast of Chestermere in an effort to locate the remains of Chelsea DAVIDENAS.

After narrowing down the search location, on Thursday, April 4, officers engaged the Calgary Search & Rescue Association (CALSARA) to assist in the search efforts.

Late in the afternoon on Thursday, April 4, members of the Calgary Police Service Missing Persons Team located human remains northeast of Carseland in Wheatland County, near Range Road 254 and Highway 901. Investigators worked with The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, who has now identified the remains as Davidenas.

On Wednesday, Calgary Police Service arrested and charged two men, Steven Zwick, of Airdrie, and Paul Rushton, of Calgary, in relation to the February 2024 disappearance of Chelsea Davidenas.

It is believed Davidenas was killed hours after her disappearance, however, her remains had not yet been located.

The 29 year-old woman was last seen on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, and was later reported missing to police on Tuesday, Feb. 27, after her family grew concerned when they were unable to get in touch with her.

Since then, CPS received numerous tips and had taken several investigative steps in an attempt to locate Davidenas.

Based on the totality of the evidence collected, investigators believe that foul play was involved, and that Davidenas was the victim of a homicide.

It is alleged that in the early hours of Saturday, Feb. 17, Davidenas was lured to a residence located in the 5600 block of Rundlehorn Drive N.E., by two men who were known to her.

A short time later, it is believed that she was killed inside the same residence.

Although Davidenas’ remains have not yet been located, based on a significant amount of physical and digital evidence that has been collected to date, on Tuesday, April 2, two men were taken into custody.

Steven Aaron Zwick, 26, of Airdrie, and Paul Joseph Rushton, 52, of Calgary, have each been charged with one count of first-degree murder. They were scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

It is alleged that Davidenas was targeted because of her history as a sex worker. Investigators do not believe that this case is connected to any other missing persons in Calgary.
