A 19-year-old Cold Lake man is facing several charges after he was found in possession of two stolen vehicles in three days. The man reportedly fled from police twice in that same time.
On March 6, just after midnight, a Bonnyville RCMP member tried to pull over a truck that had run a stop sign.
"The truck did not pull over and fled to a trailer park north of Bonnyville," according to information from RCMP. The alleged driver was eventually located and arrested.
The 2012 Ford F150 the suspect had been driving was determined to have been stolen from Glendon just a couple hours prior.
The man was charged with possession of stolen truck over $5,000 and obstruction and flight from a police officer. He was brought before a Justice of the Peace who released him "on the condition that he not be found in possession of a vehicle unless the registered owner is present," according to RCMP.
Just three days later, the same man once gain reportedly fled from police and was in possession of another stolen vehicle.
On March 9, just after 6 a.m., RCMP saw the suspect fuelling up a vehicle at a local gas station. This time, the truck he was in possession of had been reported stolen from Ardmore a week prior.
"When RCMP approached [the suspect], he tried to drive away but was unable. He opted to then flee on foot but was soon captured by Bonnyville RCMP and Cold Lake Police Dog Services," according to police.
Additional charges of possession of a stolen truck over $5,000, obstruction, theft from a motor vehicle and failing to comply with a release order - from just three days prior - were laid against Klody Cardinal, from Cold Lake, "who was brought back before a Justice of the Peace who again released him back out into the community," according to RCMP.
His next court appearance is March 19.
