Foothills rodeo fans are being warned to watch out for unauthorized ticket sales.
Okotoks Pro Rodeo recently said on social media that tickets for the event are being sold through unauthorized websites. The websites are ticket resellers that let people buy and sell event tickets, often at inflated prices.
Organizers say Eventbrite.ca is the only ticket platform used by the Okotoks Pro Rodeo to sell tickets to the event. They are listed in Canadian dollars and range in price from $17.26 to $22.57.
Rodeo organizers say people should avoid ticket sites like tickpick.com, eventticketscenter.com, gotickets.com, cheaptickets.com and eventticketscenter.com.
An online search for Okotoks Pro Rodeo tickets turns up numerous third-party ticket websites, some that appear as “sponsored” in Google search engine results.
A disclaimer on cheaptickets.com says “this listing describes tickets that the seller does not own or may not know the exact location of the seats, but is offering to obtain for you.”
Rodeo tickets on that website are listed at $58 USD plus a $13 USD service charge, and other websites list tickets for even more than that.
The Okotoks Pro Rodeo takes place at the Millarville Racing & Agricultural Society from Aug. 23 to 25.
