Overdue traveller found deceased at dam near Kananaskis

Body of 29-year-old camper travelling from Victoria to Calgary located following a search by RCMP and Kananaskis Search and Rescue.

A man travelling from Victoria to Calgary, last reported to have been camping near the Seebe Dam, has been found deceased in the water following a search by RCMP officers and Kananaskis Search and Rescue personnel.

According to the RCMP press release, the Cochrane and Stoney Nakoda detachments responded to a report of the "overdue traveller" on Aug. 19 at 3:10 p.m.

Searches on the ground by RCMP Police Dog Services and from the air by Kananaskis Search and Rescue, via helicopter, were unsuccessful in locating the missing male.

The 29-year-old traveller from Victoria, B.C. was found the next day (Aug. 20), around 9:30 a.m., after Search and Rescue began a search on the water.

"The death is not deemed to be suspicious," reads the RCMP press release. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased."

No further information will be provided.
