If planet viewing is of interest, internet sources indicate that before sunrise on the morning of June 3, residents have a special opportunity, weather permitting, to see six planets align in the sky.
This celestial dazzler is an event that families across the county can enjoy together.
As the planets rotate around the Sun on their own paths there are ecliptic events. This means that the planets move along their orbits at varying speeds and eventually fall in line.
The planets that will form a line in the sky are Jupiter, Mercury, Uranus, Mars, Neptune and Saturn.
You should be able to see the planet parade with your naked eye while you gaze up at the sky any time after 3:30 am in the morning of June 3, 2024, when Saturn, the Moon and Mars all have risen into view.
Four of the planets will be easy to see, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars and Saturn but Neptune and Uranus will need special binoculars to view clearly.
The sun may wash out your view if you wait too long to take a look.
The planets will be in the early morning sky through to June 15.
Everyone in the Northern Hemisphere should have a clear view of the spectacle by looking towards the east.
These parades of planets happen more often than you might think.
If you miss this week's event there will be another planet parade on Aug. 28.
After that there is not another alignment until January 2025.
