COLD LAKE - A tire deflation device was used by police on Feb. 12 when two stolen vehicles fled from police.
At about 7:19 p.m., Cold Lake RCMP received a tip from the public regarding the location of a stolen vehicle in the area of Highway 897 and Township Road 604.
"After some proactive patrols in the area, with assistance from Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services, police were able to locate the vehicle on Cold Lake First Nations, along with another vehicle that had been previously reported stolen," according to information from police.
RCMP initiated a traffic stop with both stolen vehicles, but both proceeded to flee from police.
"A tire deflation device was successfully deployed on both vehicles, leading to the apprehension of two suspects."
Shania Heathen, 23, a resident of Lloydminster, was also arrested on outstanding warrants and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Scanie and Heathen were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded in custody. They are scheduled to appear on Feb. 21 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake.
