Cold Lake RCMP have laid charges following an incident where drugs and drug paraphernalia were left behind in a hotel room.
On March 18, RCMP received a complaint regarding the suspected drugs. Police attended the location, and found about 630 grams of suspected methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking, in the hotel room.
"The Cold Lake General Investigations Section (GIS) initiated into an investigation into the possession of the substances and have since laid charges in relation to the file," according to RCMP on April 10.
As a result of the investigation, Brandon Hunter, 38, of Cold Lake, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Hunter had also been arrested and charged on March 15 in relation to a separate drug trafficking investigation, "where approximately 283 grams of suspected cocaine and 63 grams of suspected methamphetamine were seized," according to police.
After a judicial interim release hearing, Hunter was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake on May 8.
