Two individuals with no fixed addresses are facing a combined 13 charges as a result of the incident earlier this week where two stolen vehicles travelling at high speeds collided on St. Albert Trail.
Early Wednesday morning just after midnight St. Albert RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle near the North Ridge neighbourhood.
“RCMP quickly learned that a Subaru Impreza was stolen and it appeared that a second vehicle, a white GMC truck, was involved,” RCMP K Division spokesperson Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said, adding that the RCMP later determined the truck was stolen in Spruce Grove on Dec. 3. “A short time later, patrolling St. Albert officers located both vehicles driving South on St. Albert Trail at a high rate of speed.”
“As the St. Albert RCMP car turned around they observed the offending vehicles in the distance collide with one another and both [came] to a stop.”
An RCMP release from Dec. 7 says a male in the stolen Subaru was arrested immediately, meanwhile a woman who was driving the GMC truck fled the scene and was later located by an Edmonton Police Service helicopter and arrested.
As a result of the incident, St. Albert RCMP has charged Bryan Michael Ventura, 33, with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous driving, possession of break-in tools, credit card forgery, mischief, and possession of a controlled substance.
Amanda Jean Coles, 32, is facing five charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, and possession of a controlled substance.
The RCMP release says Coles was released after an interim hearing and is scheduled to appear in court in St. Albert on Jan. 8, 2024, while Ventura was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 11 in St. Albert.
