An Edmonton man remains in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash last Friday morning south of Lac La Biche on Highway 36.
RCMP are saying the 51 year old was the lone occupant of a southbound pickup truck that was struck by another pickup truck at an intersection near the Bonesville subdivision. Police say the driver of the other vehicle, a 38 year old man from the Lac La Biche area, suffered minor injuries in the collision that closed a portion of the highway down for several hours.
A STARS air ambulance landed at the crash site and took the injured 51 year old to an Edmonton hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition, says Alberta RCMP spokesperson Troy Savinkoff.
While emergency crews worked at the crash site, and debris from the collision was cleared from a large area around the intersection, motorists were detoured east through the nearby Beaver Lake Cree Nation and west along the Christy Creek Road.
So far, police have not laid any charges in connection to the crash. A report by a collision analyst is part of the ongoing investigation into the incident, says Savinkoff.
