Second man charged in death of man found in grass fire west of Calgary

RCMP Major Crimes has arrested another individual in association with the alleged homicide of 33-year-old Kyle Schuiling.

Christopher Stack (39), a resident of Calgary, was arrested in May and charged with the first-degree murder of Kyle Schuiling.

On Aug. 13, 2024, RCMP Major Crimes Unit arrested and charged another person responsible for the homicide of Kyle Schuiling.

Tyler Griffiths (37), a resident of Vernon, B.C., was also charged with the first-degree murder of Kyle Schuiling. After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Griffiths was remanded into custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on Aug. 29, 2024.

On April 3, 2024, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of an investigation after human remains were located in Rocky View County. The matter was investigated as a homicide. The deceased was identified as 33-year-old Kyle Schuiling, a resident of Calgary. On May 3, 2024, Christopher Stack (39), a resident of Calgary, was charged with the first-degree murder of Kyle Schuiling.

On Aug. 13, 2024, RCMP Major Crimes Unit arrested and charged another person responsible for the homicide of Kyle Schuiling.

According to the RCMP, on April 3, at approximately 5:30 a.m., the Tsuut’ina Nation Fire Department responded to a grass fire near Range Road 40 and Township Road 241 in Rocky View County. While they were extinguishing the fire, human remains, now identified as those of Schuiling, were located. 

An autopsy was completed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary on April 4. After which, police confirmed they were treating the death as a homicide.
