LAC DES ARCS – Two Canmore residents are in hospital following a serious two-vehicle crash east of Canmore on Wednesday (July 3).

A 43-year-old woman and 13-year-old youth are in serious condition, according to Alberta RCMP, after the vehicle they were in and a semi-truck collided just after 7 a.m. on the Trans-Canada Highway near Lac Des Arcs.

STARS air ambulance landed on scene and transported the youth to Calgary.

“STARS transported a pediatric patient to the Alberta Children's Hospital,” said Jonah van Driseum, STARS spokesperson, in an email. “I don't have details on patient condition at this time.”

Alberta RCMP said the collision affected westbound and eastbound lanes, but traffic is now moving in both directions.
