Southern Alberta Mountie nearly struck by vehicle as man with 40 warrants flees

Kenneth Jacobs is still wanted on his prior outstanding warrants, as well as charges related to the incident on Feb. 10.

A Rocky View County resident is wanted on dozens of outstanding warrants after evading an arrest attempt on Feb. 10, while another man was taken into custody for violating his parole.

According to a press release from Alberta RCMP, members of the Airdrie Crime Reduction Unit attended a Rocky View County address on Feb. 10 to arrest Kenneth Jacobs, 39, who was wanted on over 40 outstanding arrest warrants. The release stated that when police entered the driveway of the rural property on foot to knock on the residence's door, Jacobs aggressively drove a vehicle directly at one of the officers, who "was required to jump out of the way to avoid getting hit."

"The suspect then fled the area driving in a very dangerous manner," the release stated.

A second man who was on scene got into a black Honda CRV parked nearby and fled out the back of the property through farmers fields, "causing extensive damage to neighbouring fences."  The release stated his vehicle became damaged and disabled, and the man was taken into police custody.

"It was determined that the Honda CRV was stolen," the release stated. "The male was also wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for violating day parole conditions.

Sebastian Tait, 27, of no fixed address was apprehended on a Canada-wide warrant for violating his parole, according to RCMP, and he remains in custody.
