A woman is no longer allowed to ride horses in High River, according to social media posts.
In a Facebook post on Jan. 30, the woman said that, due to too many High River residents complaining, peace officers told her she is no longer allowed to ride a horse in town.
Videos in the post show a horse being ridden through a Tim Hortons drive-thru and across the Centre Street Bridge in High River.
The woman said not being able to ride a horse in town puts a damper on training rescue horses.
It was not said why the woman rides horses in High River.
The post kicked up dust online, with many people jumping to the woman’s defence in the comments section. One person said there is no difference between a horse, pedal bike or pedestrian.
Another wrote that horses are a legal mode of transportation on public property in Alberta.
The original post has been widely shared on Facebook, and video of the woman riding a horse was posted to the Instagram page of Calgary entertainment blog Urba Calgary.
