Alberta high school teacher arrested for sexual offences against student

An investigation by Cochrane RCMP has led to the arrest of a Springbank Community High School teacher who is charged with sexual offences against a student.

On Jan. 21. Cochrane RCMP launched an investigation into reports made by a female student regarding inappropriate behaviour by a faculty member of Springbank High School.

Following the investigation, Cochrane RCMP arrested 49-year-old Calgary resident Timothy Bailey on the following offences:

  • Child luring
  • Making sexually explicit material available to a child
  • Sexual exploitation

After a judicial interim hearing, Bailey was released on conditions and will appear in Cochrane’s Alberta Court of Justice on Feb. 18, 2025.

At the time of his arrest, Bailey was a teacher at Springbank High School. Cochrane RCMP will continue to investigate, adding that they believe that there may be more victims. They ask the public to please come forward with any similar type of incidents.
